Angie Shuler

Angie Shuler began her formal dance training at Columbia Ballet School. She studied at summer intensives at The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts, Hartford Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Pennsylvania Ballet. Angie trained in year-round programs at North Carolina School of the Arts and The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet before dancing professionally with Charleston Ballet Theatre and Southern Ballet Theatre. Angie’s repertoire includes the principal role in Paquita, peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Aurora in the Sleeping Beauty wedding pas de deux, Tudor’s Little Improvisations, the lead of the third movement of Western Symphony, and numerous other roles in classics and original works.

Angie is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 & Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She has also completed coursework with Leap ‘N Learn, an early childhood education-based dance program. Angie owned Brevard Ballet School in Brevard, North Carolina for nine years. She also directed Brevard Ballet, a non-profit civic ballet company that had two major productions each year, including The Nutcracker, and provided educational outreach for disadvantaged youth and children with special needs. Angie has also been on faculty at several ballet schools in Atlanta, greater Salt Lake City, Charleston, and Greenville.

Angie is an avid yoga practitioner and certified yoga instructor that has also finished two Boston Marathons and Ironman Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics. Angie enjoys spending time with her husband, Joel, and her cat, Vera. She is thrilled to return to Dance Conservatory of Charleston and is passionate about helping her students grow as dancers and as human beings.
