Competition

Dance Conservatory of Charleston participates in all levels of competition, ranging from Youth America Grand Prix to Bella Moxi to NYCDA and our dancers regularly receive top accolades, awards and scholarships.

Performance of all kinds is an important component of dance education, but we will never sacrifice class time for rehearsal. Consistent instruction time is imperative for continued improvement. Performance participation is encouraged and fun, but optional.

CREATIVE MOVERS MORNING PROGRAM // Enrollment for our upcoming early childhood morning program is filling up! There are still limited spaces available for this arts infused preschool program, beginning in September, but register soon to ensure a spot. Once enrollment limits are reached, names will be placed on a waiting list in the order that registrations are received. Creative Movers is designed for ages 3-4 with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Trained at The School of American Ballet, @hollydorger is a former Scottish Highland Dancing World Champion and was bestowed the honor of Knighthood by Majesty Margrete, the Queen of Denmark, in 2016! Were so excited for our dancers to have the opportunity to work with such an incredible artist, and cant wait to welcome Ms. Dorger to Charleston this summer! She joined the corps de ballet after graduation at 18 years old. In 2013 she was promoted to Soloist after performing roles such as Princess Florine (Blue Bird), Gamzatti and Dew Drop. In 2016 Holly was promoted to Principal Dancer on George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations. Holly’s first love was Scottish Highland Dancing. She competed all around the world until at the age of ten she became the United States Champion. Shortly after reaching the top level for her age she changed her focus to ballet. At age 14 she was taken on a full merit scholarship in to the prestigious year round program in New York City at the School of American Ballet. She trained there until former principal dancer of the New York City Ballet and of the Royal Danish Ballet, Nikolaj Hubbe, offered her a corps de ballet contract with the Royal Danish Ballet. Holly received the great honor of Knighthood by becoming “Ridder af Dannebrogordenen” by Majesty Margrete, the Queen of Denmark on November 18th, 2016. Holly is also an active Ambassador for the Opus1Foundation in Nairobi, Kenya. These 30-minute sessions will provide a brief full-body assessment with a focus on any problem areas you may have. Based on the assessment, she will prescribe a couple of individualized exercises/stretches, provide recommendations for managing your symptoms, and answer your questions to help guide you toward improving your dance health!
