The Nutcracker The 2018 Nutcracker Performance at the College of Charleston's Sottile Theatre has concluded. Registration will reopen for 2019. The Nutcracker Dance Conservatory of Charleston is delighted each Winter to present scenes from The Nutcracker, one of the most treasured performing opportunities in a dancer’s life. A brave young girl, her prince, a pageant of ballerinas and a cast of dreamlike characters in a world filled with magic and sweet delights. Our student dancers are part of this beloved holiday tradition. We are proud to present a production in which every students shines, from our primary division dancers as Little Gingerbread, to our pre-professional students in the principal roles of Sugar Plum and Snow Queen. DCC faculty member and former New York City Ballet principal dancer Stephen Hanna will share his invaluable gifts as a partner reprising his role as Cavalier. For advanced dancers, we are particularly honored to offer the elite opportunity to perform “Snowflakes” from George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker © choreography by George Balanchine ® The George Balanchine Trust. This honor, bestowed on only select schools in the country, allows our students the incredible opportunity to dance the same iconic choreography the New York City Ballet performs at Lincoln Center.
